For 45 years the Southeastern Pennsylvania Women’s Ordination Conference (SEPA WOC) has faithfully witnessed in front of the Cathedral on Holy Thursday for women’s full inclusion in church ministry. This year we will gather again at the conclusion of the Chrism Mass, when priests come to receive the Holy Oils for sacramental use in parishes throughout the church year. Outside the Basilica during the witness, Medical Mission Sister Miriam Therese Winter will be honored with SEPA WOC’s Mary Magdalene Award.
Catholic women around the world are striking for equality, and this witness echoes their calls for justice and renewed church free of patriarchy.
